4 Ways To Combat The Fear Of Judgement Phobia
Human nature is to worry about what other people think about you, how they judge you, so how do you overcome the fear of judgement phobia?
Hi Trish Davies, here from TrishDaviesInternational.com and BuildYourAU.com. I want to talk about how other people people’s judgements affect you and me. It is part of our makeup that we sometimes make judgement on things and people.
You can’t get away from it however much you try, and that judgement is a two-way street. You will have made such judgements in the past, either willingly or unwillingly. Also, people will have judged you and this is what can have detrimental affect on how you live your life.
The fear of judgement phobia is somewhere inside everyone. It is closely linked to the desire to be liked all of the time. In an ideal world that would happen but as we all know that world doesn’t exist.
As much as we want to be liked all of the time it is simply impossible to manifest. It is one of life’s games that is never going to yield a positive result for you and I. Therefore, don’t even try and play it because it will inhibit you and you will never be able to express your true inner self.
The act of judging people has been around from the beginning of time and will carry on forever. You either like someone or you don’t, think they are good or bad, feel you can trust them or not. That is just a few examples and there are millions more which you have of others and they have of you.
Still, that affects us so how can you overcome the fear of judgement phobia?
How To Overcome The Fear Of Judgement Phobia?
To help you with your fear of judgement phobia here are four ways to stop living within that fear.
Their Judgement Won’t Last Forever
The human brain is constantly absorbing information, millions of thoughts and messages are processed. Although your brain is the most sophisticated supercomputer in existence it only has so much capacity for this information.
When people make a judgement of you it is in their conscious mind at that point, but it doesn’t last. Within moments, hours, or a few days that judgment will have left their conscious awareness state. So, what I am saying is that they let go of their judgement so you must also.
You Can’t Control Judgement
I have mentioned that judgement happens, it is unavoidable so there is no point in trying to control it. The simple fact is that you can’t control what other people think. Whether they physically express their feelings or not is up to them their brain will still process any thoughts they have.
Let Them Judge
A great way to combat the fear of judgment phobia is to be open and let people judge. Define the fear you have about people judging you by opening yourself up to it.
When you know what that fear is you can then take measures to manage that fear. Therefore, it won’t affect you as much as it would if you closed yourself off to it.
Become Self Aware Of Your Own Judgements
The best way to combat the fear of judgement phobia is to judge yourself more than you do other people. Be conscious of the language you use In your head relating to other people in your life.
Shift the focus of your judgements and ask yourself what effect people have on you. Because of their behaviour what do you want to avoid or be aware of in the future. Do they let you down and make you feel disappointed?
Distance yourself from those traits of other people and sift focus on what is good for you.
My Own Fear Of Judgement Phobia
So those are four ways of combatting the fear of judgement phobia and I hope that I have made sense. I looked at this subject around 4 weeks ago now in the aftermath of my relocation to Tasmania.
It was a stressful and very challenging time moving from mainland Australia to Tasmania. There were obviously many things to sort out and Covid-19 made the task even harder, but I got there in the end.
The following video was shot around halfway through my quarantine period that I decided to shoot the video. It shows how the fear of judgement phobia was affecting me at the time and how I overcame it and pressed the record button.
Hopefully it will give you some context on how I was thinking. A thought process that I feel many people go through which relates to any situation they find themselves in and worry about what other people think. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video.
As you can see I did overcome my fear of judgement phobia and I was so pleased I moved forward. I would love to know your story, what judgement phobias you have had and whether you overcame them or not. Please leave a message below in the comment box.
