I have always employed the services of a coach when I have wanted to achieve a certain level of success in my business. My first experience of coaching was in 2006 when Bob Proctor, author of You Were Born Rich, and Loral Langemeier, Millionaire Maker personally coached me. It was a year of accelerated growth especially in the area of personal development, business and real estate.

Anyone that has achieved a degree of success in their business, their profession, in sport or in personal development has at some stage been coached or mentored by someone that has achieved certain levels of success themselves.

I will talk a lot more about coaching as we move through this journey, for now, I want to talk about the importance of setting up the coaching call which is crucial to the success of your coaching experience and ultimately the results you will achieve. It all comes down to planning and preparation.

Having a coaching call agenda is the key to getting certain outcomes. The day before your call it is necessary to have a think about what you would like to discuss with your coach.

What wins have you had during the week or the month? And what challenges have you been faced with? It is then important to have a purpose of the call.

This was common practice when working through all of my coaching programs and it has developed a discipline of doing this whenever getting on to a coaching call.

If you are a coach it is important to let your client know that is what you expect from them in the beginning. It is important to get the most out of your 30 mins or one-hour consultation. It keeps the call on point and both your coach and you as the client getting as much out of the session as possible.

Clients seek coaching to get better results or because they want results they cannot achieve on their own. It is not a weekly or monthly chit-chat, good coaching gets to the purpose of what really matters. It is all about getting to the point and cuts through all social niceties and asks questions and calls for commitment in ways that will change peoples lives.

When you email this information through to your coach it immediately indicates a level of determination and commitment to the process. It demonstrates your level of organisational skills and planning and preparation. It also lets your coach know that you mean business and that you expect that level of commitment back. Coaching is a two-way relationship.

I have always believed in finding people that are successful in what you want to do to get you to a level of success in a shorter period of time. Coaching is the most successful way of getting there.
