Having been involved within the industry for many years I know first-hand how powerful it is. I am a corporate trainer and coach and have seen many people from all walks of life come through my training room.
Now the landscape has changed dramatically during 2020 due to Covid-19. The pandemic has taken away that physical and human interaction side of coaching. What it hasn’t taken away though is the ability to coach through leveraging technology.
Another thing is hasn’t taken away is the demand for learning new skills as people realise, they need to adapt. How they live their lives has changed along with their ability to work and earn a living.
Their jobs may have been taken away temporarily or permanently so they are looking for new opportunities. Also, they are looking for help to help them cope with the situation mentally, emotionally, and physically.

How To Start A Coaching Business From Scratch
The nature of any business is that you need something to trade in return for money. Traditional businesses invest vast amounts in money to buy inventory to then retail on to the public.
Manufacturing industries invest huge amounts of money in equipment and raw material to produce their products. In both examples you would need to also add into the equation premises and all the additional expenses that goes with it.
To start a coaching business from scratch you don’t have to do any of that. Your products and services will emerge from you, your knowledge, and experiences. This is priceless and doesn’t cost you a penny up front to turn that value into products and services.
When it comes to the hardware of your coaching business then you have most of what you need already. To read this article then you have a device that connects to the internet, probably a laptop, pc, tablet, or smartphone.
Therefore, you have the tools of the trade to get you up and running and this puts it into context. Go back in time say 50 years when the space race was at it’s intensity. There were huge rooms stuffed with technology to navigate a capsule into space.
Now you have more power when it comes to technology in the palm of your hand. If scientist could get machine and people into space then, there is no excuse for you!
Yes, there may be some additional expenses in the future for your coaching business but that limited to a few hundred dollars. What you spend on that will soon be re-couped when you start to charge for your expertise.

Now at this point you may be wondering what products and services you can create. After all you need something to trade. You could create a very handsome income from just 5 products and services so let’s look at how that takes shape.
eBooks
eBook – An eBook is a digital that people download to their device to access content. For the nature of this business it will be a non-fiction book, but fiction eBooks can be created. For now, though we will stick with non-fiction.
Here you would create a how to guide type of product which relates to your area of expertise. That eBook would be a solution to a problem that people are experiencing so it is an in-demand product. A simple supply and demand equation.
If you have a computer or PC, then you will probably have a word processing program such as Microsoft Word. You simply create a document and then convert it to a PDF which you then offer as a download.
Your eBook is a free product but there is a methodology to offering this for free. It is a lead generation tool to build relationships, the money and profit comes in your next products and services.
Video Courses
Video Course – Your first paid product can be created with tools you already have. Your laptop will have a webcam and a microphone, for a few dollars you can buy an external high definition one. If you have a smartphone then you can use that as well.
You create your course structure and shoot it on whatever device you have. You then upload those videos to YouTube which is free or Vimeo which is just a few dollars per month.
Then you need a hosting platform such as Kajabi which again only costs a few dollars per month. Using a platform such as Kajabi enables you to sell the course for a one-time fee or charge a monthly member ship fee.
Masterminds
Masterminds – These are very powerful because you create an exclusive environment for people to attend each week or month. You are the host, and you use your laptop or PC to create them alongside platforms such as Zoom.
You then record your masterminds which can be repurposed into an online pre-recorded training program. It is the same principle as the video course section I mentioned just a moment go.
One On One Consultations
Consultations – These are for people who want coaching at a higher level and are prepared to pay a premium for it. Here you can command high fees because they are getting direct access to you. Anything from the high hundreds to multiple thousands of dollars for individual sessions or months of access.
Mastermind Retreats
Retreats – These are the pinnacle of your coaching business. The difference is that here you are physically together with your clients. Up until now everything has been virtual by leveraging technology.
Obviously at this moment in time with Covid-19 it is impossible to put together mastermind retreats. The thing is though Covid-19 will be overcome in some shape or form so you will be able to do this in the future.
For mastermind retreats you can command multiple thousand of dollars for people to attend. This is the highest level of coaching you can deliver to an exclusive and intimate group of people.
